Apartments in good cause buildings for rent near landmarks in Yorkville, Manhattan

Good cause is a tenant-protection category. It helps you focus on buildings where certain rent increases or non-renewals may be limited under the applicable rules, but you still need to confirm the building’s status and lease terms with the agent.

This page shows 8 apartments for rent, with a median rent of $5,092.

No. Good cause is not an official affordable-housing program. It is a market category tied to tenant protections, so it does not mean the apartment is income-restricted, subsidized, NYCHA, HPD, or Section 8.

The key difference is the tenant-protection framework. That can affect how rent increases or non-renewals are handled, but it does not remove the need to review fees, lease length, deposit terms, and building rules.

Confirm whether the building is actually covered, ask about broker fees, security deposit, utilities, move-in charges, and any lease clauses that could affect renewal or occupancy.

Openigloo lets you compare live apartments for rent with building and landlord reviews, so you can look for patterns in maintenance, responsiveness, and rent changes before you tour or apply.

The filter is based on the building’s tenant-protection status in the page’s scope, not on a rent cutoff. It narrows the results to apartments in buildings that fit the good cause category, but you should still verify the unit details and the full monthly cost.
