The best maintained building in NYC I've lived in
Pros
The Capitol is a luxury building that I would say actually qualifies for that title unlike all the new buildings flooding the market that are fake luxury. One of the best aspects of it alone is how well staffed it is. Several doormen, dozens of porters and maintenance men, and the package valet that does an amazing job of processing the hundreds of packages a week. All of these people work their asses off and it shows. It seems like every other building nowadays tries to get away with staffing as little as possible and it's in those buildings you'll notice a lack of upkeep. I can't say a bad thing about any worker at the capitol (except for those in the leasing office).
Cons
This is the kind of building that will attempt to jack your rent up after your lease is over. I'm upset with what they pulled with us. They sent us our renewal offer which was an egregious increase and when we said no, they listed our apartment for less than their offer to us. It's a churn and burn building. If you're a good tenant or not, they don't really care. This building was purchased by JP Morgan in 2012 so you know end of the day it's all about money.
Loved living at The Capitol
Pros
The roof deck was amazing
Cons
At least one elevator was always out of service
