Wonderful building but too pricey
Pros
Carnegie Mews was my first apartment that I lived in NYC and I really enjoyed living here. First of all, the apartment is very well maintained. management was very responsive to any issues and promptly followed up .I love the lobby - I always enjoyed greeting the doormen when I returned home. - My apartment feels very spacious by NYC standards. A lot of closet space and a giant living room with a direct view into Times Square. I loved my apartment! - Good AC in the summer, heat in the winter - (ESA) pet friendly. Lots of furry friends in the building!
Cons
The apartment is very expensive and they do raise the rent quite significantly each quarter. When I moved in, my apartment was 4625. When I moved out, they had planned to renew to 4850, That's an extra 2400 a month - wild. Building has little to no amenities. Paying an arm and a leg for a singular apartment, a nice lobby, and doormen. I think you're mainly paying for the location. Building is a bit old and my drain frequently clogged despite our best efforts Elevator (particularly to the higher floors) often stopped working. This past year alone, stopped working 4 times.
Advice to the owners
Lovely apartment building and honestly if I could afford it, I wouldn't have moved out. Still, some may argue that you don't really get your moneys worth due to the lack of amenities. Personally, I think all the space in my unit made up for it!
Great location, a little pricey
Pros
Helpful & friendly staff, hallways & trash rooms are well kept & cleaned regularly. Some apartments have great views, and bathrooms & kitchens feel modern.
Cons
Minimal amenities in the building. View from roof is nice, but no terrace or furniture & it's closed on public holidays. Windows are double-glazed, but Midtown is noisy. Residents are generally friendly, but not much of a community.
Advice to the owners
Make use of that roof on NYE!
