Great building but beware of individual landlords

Pros:
Building was well-maintained, nice laundry room, elevators, trash rooms on every floor
Cons:
Co-op building, so application process is very involved and you’re at the whim of the owner of the individual unit

A good place to call home with quirks

Pros:
- Amazing, caring, personable doormen and staff
- Super responsive LL and super
- Amazing neighborhood and convenient location (4 min walk to Trader Joe's, right next to the park and river, etc)
- Relatively quiet block
Cons:
- Neighbors usually quiet, but I had a next door neighbor begin construction with no advance notice. It was very loud and disruptive as I WFH and this went on for months and months. I did not receive compensation or any alternatives, just a "sorry" from the neighbor
- Occasional roach no matter how clean you are (could be unit-dependent, some of my neighbors report never seeing one)
- Hot water works about 80% of the time, monthly water shutdowns to maintain the pipes as it is an old prewar building
