Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 212 East 85 Street in Manhattan highlight its prime location, updated apartments with good closet space, and generally effective pest control when scheduled. Tenants appreciate the convenience of online rent payments and occasionally reasonable rent changes. However, issues include inconsistent heating, thin walls leading to noise concerns, occasional pests like roaches and bed bugs, and problematic water pressure. Management communication and responsiveness receive mixed feedback, with some citing poor transparency during incidents and defensive staff attitudes. Neighbor quality varies, and while some recommend the building for its amenities and location, others express dissatisfaction with landlord responsiveness and pest issues.

Great spot, shady management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great area! Apartments are nice and generally decently kept. Super is pretty responsive. Rent payment is easy via an online portal. Pest control comes regularly, you just have to sign up for them to come to your unit specifically.
Cons:
The unit directly next to me caught fire overnight after the tenant was evicted. I was out of town and management never gave notice on what happened even though it affected several units. They plaid it off like they were just renovating post-eviction. Had to find out from the ladies who run the laundromat downstairs. They ended up raising my rent $500 despite their neglectful communication.
Advice to owner:
Be more transparent

Ok Building (5D)
Former Tenant
Pros:
My unit was recently updated before I moved in. Lots of closet space, little to no vermin, save the occasional roach, low rent, responsive management. Never raised our rent too much year over year and got a rent deduction during Covid
Cons:
So ridiculously hot in the winter, walls in the building are paper thin so you could hear every conversation, neighbors tend to be younger, terrible water pressure, and Super when I was there was super defensive and didn’t want to do anything,
