Good but extremely hot in summer and cheap out on finishes & simple maintenance
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great heat in winter and hot water year round Responsive management Minimal noise most of the time Clean I saw two dead American cockroaches (the ones that wander in from outside, not the invasive German cockroaches) and a few house centipedes in one year. No other bugs. So, good pest management.
It is a fine place to live. I would live there again if my budget was more limited.
Cons:
Extremely hot and humid during summer, with no airflow due to add-on walls and no good place for a window AC unit in the living space. I put an AC unit in the bedroom and spent most of the summer in that room. Not sure if fans would be enough for the living space.
My bathroom stayed humid and I had problems with pink/orange bacteria growing on my shower curtain liner. My new place does not have this problem despite similar usage. I blame the bad airflow.
The super was helpful and nice, but not organized and not able to solve some simple maintenance tasks.
The noise isolation is not great. It was usually fine since my neighbors were quiet. Occasionally I would hear one side of people’s phone conversations. People in a neighboring building hosted loud parties occasionally on Fridays or Saturdays that ended around 12:00 am. It was not a big disturbance for me and not every weekend.
My refrigerator flickered off and back on periodically. Probably due to bad electrical wiring in the building. Could be a problem if you try to run an AC in the kitchen/living space.
Cheap/not well maintained finishes. Doors scraping the floor, closet doors not opening smoothly. Plastic toilet handle. Mismatched bathroom faucet.
