Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 530 East 89 Street reveal a building with spacious units and a desirable location near the park and riverfront, appreciated for its large layouts, tall ceilings, and elevator access. Tenants often praise the quiet neighborhood and friendly neighbors, creating a sense of community. However, persistent issues include pest infestations, especially cockroaches, occasional cleanliness problems, and smoking allowed indoors leading to unpleasant odors. Management and owner responsiveness are frequently criticized, with reports of unauthorized entries, slow repairs, and problematic superintendents. Despite the appealing apartment sizes and location, ongoing maintenance and management concerns deter many renters from recommending the building.

landlord and super are criminals
Former Tenant
Pros:
Huge 2 story apartment. Close to park.
Cons:
Oh, where to begin... The landlord/owner and super are CRIMINALS. They illegally entered my apartment (during an active lease with no missed or late payments) and threw away, destroyed, or stole nearly EVERYTHING I owned--even the vacuum. Luckily I had a doggie cam set up and had video evidence!
When I called the police the landlord lied to them.
When I took them to court the super pretended not to speak English. When they gave him a translator he suddenly did not need one.
The super's wife also stole clothes from the laundry room-- or did her son have my high school football team's T-shirt from a school in a rural part of the south?
The super and his wife routinely harassed my service dog after I repeatedly told them NOT to touch him.
They also smoked INSIDE the building so the hallways reeked and smoke could seep in through the ventilation.
They treated the whole building as if it was their house, which meant it stayed clean but it also meant their whole family would walk around the lobby in their PJs and yell.
The building had cockroaches which is why I took stars off cleanliness.
Advice to owner:
fire super, fire yourself
