Good apartment if your willing to suffer
Pros
Spacious, super super tall ceiling, I would say natural light but it’s all going to be gone by January 2027 because they’re building an apartment next-door and it’s going to genuinely cover all the natural light and I’m gonna say that 80% of the best thing about this apartment. It is insane how good the natural light is I never had to turn on the light until it got dark, but that’s all gonna go away by January 2027.
Cons
The owner will literally take 1 million years to fix something. When we first moved in, it was literally filled with roaches and absolutely disgusting. My roommate, and I had to kill all the roaches and clean it ourselves. Also, it gets insanely hot during the winter because of the pipes I mean, literally so freaking hot you can’t sleep and the owner won’t put the foam around the pipes until you ask - the supervisor told us (he later quit) the owner purposely doesn’t put the foam around the pipes until you ask, knowing that it gets too hot in the apartment.
Advice to the owners
It’s a good apartment if you’re willing to suffer a little
Standard nyc uptown place
Pros
Great location in a vibrant neighborhood
Cons
Very small studio units, no laundry in the building, no luxury touches, new studio rentals are very expensive and similarly priced to luxury one bedrooms in the same neighborhood, rents go up each lease term and the owner sites improvements for preferential rent/discount scams. Not responsive to necessary repairs. Leaks aren’t take seriously. The abandoned building and lot next door have approved plans to construct a new six story apartment building so be prepared for a construction zone.
