Good building for Columbia students
Pros
- Columbia Residential is very responsive. They address maintenance requests efficiently and without additional charges. This included more expensive requests, such as replacing the washer/dryers in the basement. - I have never seen a pest in the building. You often find people cleaning the hallways, and trash doesn't pile up (although the entrance and the trash area can become messy at the end of the semester, when students are moving out and disposing of their furniture) - There's a live-in super that can be contacted easily (directly or through Columbia Residential phone lines), so anything urgent can be promptly addressed
Cons
- The elevator and door access are old. The elevator is slow (slow, and you have to keep the "close door" pressed to get it to close), and the door access is an old buzz system, while other Columbia Residential buildings in the area have digital systems already. This might be contributing to lost packages in the building
Advice to the owners
Upgrade the entrance system to make the building more secure
Columbia grad housing
Pros
Great space, high ceilings, lots of light, thick walls.
Cons
Student housing means no one cares about the apartment, lots of peeling paint, some mold in shower, a few cockroaches but nothing terrible.
Advice to the owners
Need to thoroughly clean apartment units.
