Great apartment, mess of a building

Pros

I loved the apartment I lived in for several years. Beautiful views, updated appliances, washer/dryer in unit.

Cons

The management company is uncommunicative and dishonest. We went 2+ weeks without heat in the dead of winter. It was so cold I could see my breath in my kitchen. We had to fight to get the issue fixed and to get a concession that wasn't anywhere near what they should have given us. The lobby is dirty and infested with roaches.

Please take your tenant's safety and sanitary seriously and abide by the law.

Yes, every year the average amount they try to raise my rent is $500 which is a lot more than 5%. Be aware that this building is rent stabilized and they got away with destabilizing some units. There is a current lawsuit by several tenants from this and two other buildings they own bc of this reason bc apparently the destabilization of this units was a scheme. So negotiate your rent increases from now on. There is an article about this lawsuit in the Daily News
