Review Summary for 935 St Nicholas Avenue
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 935 St Nicholas Avenue highlight the building’s spacious apartments, good water pressure, and convenient subway access as key advantages. Tenants often praise the friendly neighbors and dog-friendly policies. However, many renters report significant issues with pest control, particularly persistent bed bugs, and inconsistent heating during winter. Package theft and occasional noise disturbances are common complaints. Management responsiveness is frequently described as poor, with multiple reports of unaddressed maintenance and communication problems. Garbage management and laundry room cleanliness also draw criticism. Overall, while the size and location appeal to some, prospective tenants should be aware of ongoing management and pest challenges.

You'll be Ignored and then blamed for not informing them
Former Tenant
Pros:
The units are large including the hallways and bedrooms in the apartments themselves. The trash is well maintained which is nice especially since you pass it every time you do laundry. Elevator in building but only one so you can wait a while occasionally. Very close to the C train!
Cons:
Beach Lane management will ignore your calls and emails. We had bed bugs for almost a year and forced us to move out since it was never resolved. Upon the initial complaint, they did respond well by sending an exterminator (who sucked at their job too) but after that they did not stay on top of the bed bug problem. They kept saying they already sent an exterminator and it is likely our fault for countless reasons they tried to put back on us. Then when I followed up again about the on-going issue and the health and safety concerns from the on-going situation, they blamed us for not telling them sooner despite them emailing us and directly informing us not to write them any longer until they have an update for us - this was a 3-week gap in a 7 month period at this point. Called 311 multiple times and that was a process itself but when 311 reported other issues, beach lane attended to this since there were fines involved. But attention to the bed bugs still. They claimed they inspected the other units but they did not! I checked in with each neighbor and no one ever inspected their units or told them. Guess what. We found them in other units. This experience can go on but the lack of care for tenants from Beach Lane I found to be true as I dealt with them while living here briefly.
