Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of 55 Cooper Street highlight spacious apartments with attractive layouts and generally quiet, friendly neighbors. The building benefits from good water pressure, clean common areas, and a safe location. However, many tenants cite ongoing issues with management responsiveness, including slow or hostile handling of maintenance and tenant requests. Heating and pest control remain inconsistent, with occasional heat outages and persistent cockroach and mice problems. Building upkeep, such as old windows and outdated features, needs improvement. While some appreciate the reasonably maintained environment and location, others caution against management and maintenance shortcomings, suggesting upgrades in building systems and tenant communication.

Decent Building, Minimum effort from Management

Pros

The apartments have great floor plans, super spacious. Most of the other residents are super friendly

Cons

A lot of the building features/finishes are undermaintained or poorly kept up/out of date. Management is very slow to respond about changes/fixes that are beyond the super's responsibility to work on. Been ages since the windows were replaced so most of them have problems opening/closing and look pretty rough and the building's energy efficiency grade suffers big time for it.

Advice to the owners

Better appliances and better workmanship on upkeep across building would go a long way.

Nicely Renovated and Great Location

Pros

Beautiful hardwood floors, modern elevator, quiet building in a relatively quiet section of Inwood.

Cons

Occasional loss of heat and hot water, cockroaches never seem to fully go away.
