Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 55 West 14 Street highlight its prime Manhattan location with convenient subway access and spacious apartments featuring large windows. Residents commend the friendly, responsive staff and doormen who foster a welcoming community. However, the building has notable downsides: heating and cooling rely on an old system with no in-unit AC, leading to discomfort during warmer months. Noise from nearby 14th Street and a hospital can be disruptive, and cleanliness in common areas has declined. The building lacks luxury amenities like a gym or outdoor spaces. Maintenance quality and management responsiveness are mixed, with some tenants frustrated by the on-site superintendent.

Courtney House - terrible air conditioning very loud
Former Tenant
Pros:
Staff is great, very responsive and they do what they can to help. Apartments are spacious but old.
Cons:
They turn off the AC from October through June. You can’t have in unit AC. Apartments on higher floors get to 80 degrees even if it’s 50 degrees outside and nothing you can do to reduce heat. You can open windows but there is a lot of loud construction on 14th street so impossible to work or sleep with windows open. It’s basically unbearable to live here in October - November and in May.
Advice to owner:
Get in unit AC or allow AC for longer
