Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 2156 Madison Avenue reflect a mixed experience. The building benefits from a central Manhattan location, gated security, maintained courtyard, and good water pressure. Residents appreciate features like laundry facilities, elevators, and attentive outdoor space maintenance. However, ongoing issues include broken access gates, inconsistent garbage management, persistent pest problems (notably roaches), and unreliable laundry machines. Noise levels and neighbor relations receive varied feedback, with some complaints about disturbances. Owner responsiveness and property management are cited as lacking by several tenants, affecting satisfaction. Overall, while the building offers convenience and security, repairs, pest control, and management responsiveness need improvement to enhance livability.

Building needs attention
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is centrally located I. Manhattan
Cons:
Locking Gates leading to the building constantly broken and open. Access doors to the main building are broken as well. There’s always garbage in the basement
Advice to owner:
Make repairs regarding access to keep unwanted people out

Actually the worst
Former Tenant
Pros:
They take out the trash multiple times per day and make sure the lobby is well kept.
Cons:
Update: Besides the water being turned off at random (they place notices up RIGHT BEFORE they turn it off); not reprimanding people for allowing their dogs to poop and not pick it up all around the outside of the complex, AND not bothering to clean it for sometimes a full week; allowing people to make noise in the courtyard at various hours of the night during the summer (regardless of people’s complaints); the laundry units are ALWAYS broken. Not exaggerating in the slightest. It’s bad enough that most buildings split one wash room (containing 5 washers and 5 dryers) between TWO buildings. More than half of the washers will be down one week and the dryers the next but this time half of the dryers have been down for over a month. The leasing office doesn’t respond to calls, emails or in person questions.
Advice to owner:
Get better property managers, leasing office representatives and actually take your tenants complaints seriously.
