Owner declined to renew after 1 year so he could move in
Pros
Nice neighborhood but would not recommend this building or landlord AT ALL.
Cons
Owner was super non responsive when we moved in. Our breaker kept tripping when we first moved in and the electricity would go out for hours at a time. We had to throw away an entire fridge full of food on two separate occasions because the power was out so long things spoiled. Then we had issues with the tub being backed up. The very first shower we took upon moving in resulted in 8” of standing water that took a full day to drain. Landlord refused to fix it so we had to pay to snake it ourselves. ALSO we didn’t have hot water for the first five months. It was lukewarm (around 90 degrees, which is miserable in winter). We kept messaging and calling landlord and the super and finally we took a picture of a thermometer under the tap and said “this isn’t legal.” He flew off the handle and said we were suggesting he was some kind of absentee lord. He said he wouldn’t be renewing our lease. We thought he was just being dramatic but sure enough, after one year, landlord refused to renew our lease (and we paid a broker fee, so it was very expensive to move in). We had to stop by the apartment a few months after we moved out to get some mail, and we found out from our former neighbors that the landlord moved into our apartment. So shady.
Advice to the owners
Don’t suck so much
