Review Summary for 213 Butler Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 213 Butler Street, Brooklyn, consistently criticize poor management and owner unresponsiveness, with many reporting neglected maintenance, unresolved pest problems, and inadequate garbage management. Tenants face issues such as noise disturbances from surrounding establishments, cleanliness concerns in communal areas, and inconvenient rent payment processes. While some appreciate spacious units, outdoor spaces, and amenities like in-unit washers/dryers, these positives are overshadowed by frequent repair delays and subpar living conditions including mold, leaks, and water pressure issues. Neighbors vary in experience, but noise levels are frequently described as disruptive. Overall, renters strongly advise management improvement but do not recommend living here currently.

Great Building, Terrible Owner
Former Tenant
Pros:
The outdoor spaces and size of rooms were amazing, the renovations and the rental units were beautiful
Cons:
Constant Management turnover due to a difficult and cheap owner. While they did get the pest situation under control outside (rats in the mail and garbage) they never sent an actual exterminator for waterbugs indoors. The communal spaces were never maintained allowing buildup on the stairs and vomit from the neighboring club to sit on the porch steps until nature handled the situation. Also they went from an online portal to pay rent to an ACH situation that charges a fee and doesn't allow tenants in agency as to when it comes out. This created issues when I tried to leave as there appeared to be late payments when in actuality I had no control over that.

Steer Clear of this Company
Former Tenant
Pros:
It could have been nice.
Cons:
The landlord is a nightmare, owned by a shell company with no presence and out of date registration. The management ghosted at lease renewal time for a month, and refused to make necessary repairs. We had to call 311 after giving up on reaching them.

They demand direct debit, then refuse to correct any mistakes made or follow up with tenants in any capacity. It took me threatening to literally call the police for fraud to even get a misspelled text message back acknowledging the debit took place.

The noise from Public Records bleeds into the apartment and it is not possible to sleep four out of seven days. The noise from upstairs comes through so clear I can hear conversations. Trash is not cleaned up for the abandoned retail storefront.

No one comes to repair anything in a timely fashion; our fridge broke and food rotted for three days before someone responded.

The street is not good -- construction all around, two lanes of parked cars and one lane of slow-moving traffic, cars parked on the sidewalk constantly, honking and general unpleasantry.

I cannot de-recommend this place enough. Stay away!!
