Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 509 17 Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215 praise its prime location near Prospect Park and vibrant neighborhood with access to popular dining and transportation. The building is described as cozy with a small number of units and extra basement storage. However, tenants consistently report poor cleanliness, inadequate garbage management, and ongoing pest issues including ants and mice. Heating and hot water reliability are problematic, with repairs often delayed or insufficient due to an absent live-in superintendent and unresponsive or slow-acting landlord. Despite the building’s potential, maintenance and management shortcomings significantly impact tenant satisfaction.

You get what you pay for –– Cheap and poorly maintained apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
The neighborhood is great! Really cute and close to lots of popular restaurants and bars. The best part is the proximity to Nighthawk and Prospect Park. Short walk to the subway. Cheap
Cons:
Not clean, garbage piles up, always some new issue (water damage, floors, leaks, superficial wear). Apartments are narrow and have VERY little space. No live-in super. Landlord never hires companies just flakey "contractors." Landlord doesn't even live in Brooklyn.
Advice to owner:
Care about your tenants and respond when there are issues! Take pride in the building because the neighbors hate you.
