Good Apartment, Bad Landlord
Pros
It’s a large space, good location, in reasonably good shape for being an I renovated space. A small building just one other tenant. Quiet.
Cons
The landlord lives just a few houses down. He’s generally rude and rigid. He attempted to raise the rent 10% the first year, 5% the second. Constantly complains about electricity use. Came over unannounced at random times, and is overly attentive to your mail coming in and your trash going out. The space was not worth him...
Advice to the owners
Renovate the apartment, it could go for a lot more. Be considerate to your tenants. Give them proper notice when you’d like to visit. Do not try to raise the rent higher than the average cost of living increase.
