Good for 1 year lease, not more
Pros
It is great to be right across from prospect park (as many stated) and the in-builidng laundry is nice.
Cons
The management company tries to squeeze the tenants. After 1 year, they raised our rent by 12.3%, forcing us to move. When we asked for the reason (since they made no changes or repairs that would increase the value), they stated that they reassessed the apartment value and there was nothing we could do, since the building does not fall under renter protections. We also waited 6 months for a repair to our windows and exhaust fan that the company stated would be fixed before we moved in.
Advice to the owners
Stop being greedy.
Worst management company and maintenance
Pros
- Location - opposite Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park, Grand Army Plaza - Laundry in building (though often 1 or 2 machines will be broken) - Elevator - though breaks down about once every 2 months
Cons
- Constant rent increases: last year's rent increase was over 20% this year's was over 12% even though Management hasn't provided anything to warrant these increases. - Pine Management is the worst management company. They are a faceless corporation that doesn't care about its tenants. The person responsible for rental increases copy and pastes responses to deny your request. They don't do timely repairs and leave leaks unfixed for 1+ years - Constant package theft with no help from management to fix the issue. - Front door is constantly broken allowing people to walk straight in - Homeless people sometimes sleep in the stairwells - Lack of heating during winter I do not recommend living here. It's not worth it.
Advice to the owners
None. They don't care about their tenants
