garbage and pest problems

Pros:
close to the A train, easy to get around from here, neighborhood is nice, and neighbors on this block of Pacific St are very friendly. Building itself is a mixed bag. Some units have been recently updated to be nicer
Cons:
The trash issue is absurd. Always garbage all over the street in front of the building, and bags and debris blocking the trash cans make it impossible to take out my own bags. Rats (outside), mice (inside the unit) and their droppings are everywhere. Exterminator comes about once a month but treatments aren't effective. In the wintertime, it feels like the boiler is going full blast, and I end up having to keep all my windows open all winter, otherwise the apartment gets uncomfortably hot.
Advice to owner:
Fix the trash. Turn the boiler down.

Shitty landlord

Pros:
Renovated apt

Cons:
Landlord:
- I had to call 311 many times because he wouldn’t turn the heater on
- when I moved to the apt I had a problem with my key and during three months I had to call the super when I’d get locked out, because he took forever to give me a working key
- Mice in the apt (sometimes it was hard to sleep cause we would hear it all night eating stuff)
- occasional roaches
- Landlord never returned my full deposit (it has been 7 months I moved out and he stopped answering my emails. I am suing him)
Advice to owner:
Be better. Pay my deposit back!
