filthy and smelly at all times, infestations, vermin, raccoons in the ceiling and walls, owner was never responsive once in my four years living here, tried to force out rent stabilized tenants — the list is endless. most of the building are folks who have lived there for decades and are at the mercy of a malfunctioning boiler, terribly kept radiators, just truly disgusting building conditions. we fought for a literal YEAR with management to get the roach and raccoon problems managed, which they drug their feet about until the entire building was infested with roaches and the raccoon (that they and their “pest control guys” insisted was a squirrel) literally gave birth to three babies in my bedroom ceiling, resulting in me having to move out for a week so they could carve open my ceiling and wait to catch the raccoons. maintenance also threw out my personal furniture not once but twice, and when i moved in in 2021, they couldn’t get their act together to give me a key until a WEEK after my lease began. oh, and they wanted a 12% increase in rent WHILST the raccoons ran amok in my gutted ceiling. insanity.
