Pros
Friendly neighbors, roof access (kinda), conveniently located.
Cons
Many instances where heat or electricity for the building as a whole were shut off due to landlord nonpayment. Landlord doesn’t live in NY so when we had issues she was never able to address them, there was an alleged super but I never met anyone. The landlord is very hard to get a hold of. Stairs are a bit steep and common areas are not kept up. (Mail, garbage, debris in the vestibule frequently)
Advice to the owners
Hire someone to upkeep the building in general if you can’t be there. Hire legit maintenance people to fix issues with the building instead of asking a friend to do a job when they don’t know what they are doing.
