Not a great living situation
Pros
The building is in a good location and the apartments are relatively well maintained.
Cons
The property owner is nearly always unresponsive, even when it comes to major and potentially harmful issues.
Do not live here
Pros
The only positive things about this place are that you're relatively close to the C, are within walking distance of delis and laundromats, and a few good restaurants.
Cons
The management is abysmal, worst we've had in the 10 years I've lived here. We were desperate right as the pandemic was happening and moved into an unclean, hastily vacated unit. No smoke alarm, dirty mattresses and furniture left behind, garbage left in cupboards and closets which we had to clean (place was advertised as "prefurnished". The previous tenants skipped out). We were not given full sets of keys until weeks after we moved in (had to cut our own). Our oven broke and was never fixed or replaced. Water damage was constantly brought up but never looked at. We were lied to as who the landlord was, found out who our building manager was right before we were forced out due to rent increase that was completely illegal. Neighbors are incredibly loud and you're next to several backyards that have parties past 3 am. Lease manager tried to get us to show the apartment ourselves to interested clients while we were in the process of moving, as well as trying to get us to film a walk through to provide them advertising the unit. The heat doesn't turn on until the very cusp of frigidness because they don't want renters using the heat before an official date. The management will NEVER respond for any repairs or damages, but will text you nonstop if you plan on renewing, vacating, if you'll be home to show the unit and when you'll be done moving. These people do not deserve a cent of rent. Absolute crooks to the T, and of course they kept our deposit past the 14 day limit and when asked to have it back, they declined on account of us "badmouthing" them and saying we didn't allow access to the unit 30 days before the lease was up. We never barred them from entering and weren't notified to show the unit until 5 days into the month. They kept asking for specific days we could show and we had full time jobs so we gave them weekends and late night times. Apparently that is "barring" from the residence.
Advice to the owners
I hope you never rent another unit and that you go bankrupt immediately.
