You could do worse, but...
Pros
Units have been decently renovated, some still have prewar details. Pets are allowed Most of the people in the building are really nice, and we look out for each other's packages. There are rent-stabilized units in the building.
Cons
In recent years management has become very neglectful as far as cleaning of stairs, hallway and foyer. The yard is often overgrown with weeds, which contributes to the rat problem near the garbage cans and in the (dirt floor) basement (though I've never seen a rat in the building, fortunately). The maintenance staff is very small and spread out over all the management company's buildings, so it can take multiple calls and emails to get work done.
Advice to the owners
Investment in the property's maintenance (both in actions and staff) would go a long way. Get an exterminator to do whatever it takes to get rid of the basement rats. Clearly label the trash and recycling bins. Have the entryway, halls and stairs mopped and swept regularly. Most of the folks here take good care of their apartments - it would be great if management took care of the rest of the building.
Wouldn’t recommend it
Pros
The neighborhood is on the come up
Cons
Dirty, they don’t cut the grass
Advice to the owners
Cut the grass, clean the building - dead roaches in the hallway
