Cheap place but unhinged neighbor
Pros
Cheap, nice neighborhood, fairly spacious (for nyc)
Cons
Landlord is unable to evict unhinged upstairs tenant -extremely hostile and will make a lot of noise at night, beware before renting Cockroach infestation, extreme water damage, overall unmaintained property
Wouldn’t recommend it
Pros
- I only saw 2-3 American roaches while here despite the building’s age - Rent was very cheap
Cons
- Had to share one bathroom with entire hallway - The bathroom: one tenant left the toilet filthy every morning and I had to clean it up to be able to use it. The bathtub also leaks and wobbles from side to side, it is extremely old. Someone left a dirty toaster on the floor - There was a water bubble forming in our ceiling overnight that started to crack due to a leak. The landlord just fixed the leak and never fixed the ceiling while we were living there - The apartment is very poorly kept and shows its age. Dirty and crusty - There was a gas leak from the stove that was setting off our carbon monoxide detector like crazy - One neighbor smoked excessively and you could smell it in our unit. They would also scream at people on the phone constantly - Tenant downstairs will yell at you for the bathtub leaking into their living room and send their son up to intimidate you while you shower - One neighbor will come out of their unit while you’ve only been using the bathroom for 2 minutes and sigh loudly while obnoxiously claiming “I need to use the rest room.” Very uncomfortable experience - All of the people in the building were.. weird in general. Most tenants were older and would be nasty to me despite me never having interacted with them, however they would latch onto my partner who had the same level of interaction. Like living in the twilight zone
