- optional storage $45 for small locker - decent amenities. ~50/mo for access to a printer, common space, two laundry rooms, rooftop, dog washing station, and TULU - doorman coverage ~7am-11pm - excellent location - virtually on top of the C/Shuttle station and a grocery store - apartment is kept very clean - management is usually quite responsive to comments and concerns
Cons
- electricity bill indeed is high. $150 a month for a 1b/1ba faving west even while being conservative with usage. Large glass windows do not come with blinds/curtain poles and glass is a terrible insulator - the AC could not fight the direct sun in the summer months - amenities are not well monitored (dog poop on the roof for months) - 1 of 3 elevators is almost always broken, and 1 of the 2 working ones is often reserved for long periods even during commuting hours by staff to hold to clean the floors and take out trash - has 2 addresses which confuses people initially - not very well made. Floors are sloped, paint job is done sloppy, cabinets and faucets etc are not well designed nor maintained/refurbished. - extremely dusty. air filter meant to last months filled up within weeks
Decent living with caveats
Pros
Location is incredibly convenient for access to transit (A/C/S train, B25/B48/B49 bus, Citi Bike are all w/in a block), food, and activities Building is modern, package room is convenient and prevents theft, AC works well, bedrooms get great sunlight
Cons
Management is uppity about hosting gatherings in shared spaces like rooftop or basement lounge, which defeats the point of these amenities Management completely ignores my emails Con Edison bills are insane ($200-700) and no one will explain why No gas stoves, electric only Living rooms have no windows Lotta homeless people and crackheads in the area
Advice to the owners
Stop ignoring my fucking emails, and stop trying to get me to pay to host gatherings in the building where I already pay thousands of dollars to live. Do something about the water heaters or whatever appliance is using so much electricity, because the Con Edison bills mean that my monthly costs are literally 10-15% higher than the advertised rent. Bring back Faik the doorman, pay him whatever you have to.
