Lots of pros as well as cons
Pros
Big rooms, backyard access, only 3 apartments, pets allowed, price is right for the area, direct communication with landlord, in building laundry. Great street parking
Cons
Building is rarely up kept. The entryway is always filthy, tenants were expected to sweep and mop it as well as replace the lightbulbs. The main floor apartment had a leak in one of the rooms that was never properly fixed. The upstairs apartment had a rat die in the wall and the landlord refused to call an exterminator. The wiring for the ceiling fixtures is done poorly so the lights are always flickering. We’re pretty sure the apartment in the basement is illegal, also the basement apartment floods regularly. In a year of living there the exterminator didn’t come once. The rent is picked up as a check by the property manager and it can take weeks for them to find the time to get it.
Advice to the owners
I get that you’re a small operation and may not have the resources to do everything a bigger management company may be able to get done. But there was a lot of really basic stuff that could have been taken care of by professionals in a few days and wouldn’t be a problem anymore. I loved living here but there was a lot of unneeded stress when it came to basic duties that need to be carried out on your end.
