Good but not perfect
Pros
Good location, no major issues in the past three years here, landlord is generally very responsive
Cons
While we’ve gotten bigger things like a broken fridge fixed in under a week, for smaller things like the dishwasher it’s taken a few months. One unit has had some noise issues that we had to escalate with the landlord, but I haven’t had an issue with that in about a year. I believe that litigation may have been brought up with past tenants because of this, but it didn’t get to that point while I’ve been here.
Mice and roaches
Pros
I liked the location of this apartment.
Cons
Unreasonably loud neighbors which no amount of complaining (to them, management, or police) ended up changing. I'm talking music so loud it shook our walls well past 3am. Also, the number of security cameras on the premises made me feel like I didn't have much privacy. Our apartment had a roaches and later on we found a few mice, though we were able to handle the latter on our own. When we did have to reach out to management, it took a while to get any response, and when we finally did, it was met with complaint that we were asking them to do anything. Lastly, we were not able to control the heat in our apartment which often felt like it was up to at least 90 degrees, so we had to use air conditioning in the winter just to turn it down. Eventually we found the heating dial in the basement and figured out how to turn it off ourselves, which is something we shouldn't have had to worry about - or something we should be told about upon move-in so we wouldn't have to suffer through the temperatures automatically set by the building.
Advice to the owners
You own the building, be responsible for it. The mice, roaches, heating, and noise level were an issue and it seemed like asking you to address them was extremely irritating to you.
