Terrible Management and Neglectant Landlord
Pros
High ceilings and good light in bedrooms
Cons
Our unit was uncleaned and in poor shape upon move-in. We didn't have any working smoke detectors in the apartment upon move-in, and none were working three days after, which is illegal in NYC. Also, upon move-in, there was sawdust and small debris everywhere, roaches in the freezer and fridge, multiple lights out, an exposed bulb in the bathroom with tinfoil covering it (fire hazard), moldy grout, and no water in the bathroom sink, and no hot water in the bathtub, just to name a few issues. There was ample time for management to fix up the apartment between occupants, as the home was listed for 42 days. This also indicates a lack of thoroughness in management's move-out inspection. We could not inhabit our apartment for at least three days, nearly four, due to issues with the hot water and smoke detectors. Additionally, the management backed us into a 16-month lease, and throughout our tour and correspondence, they only mentioned the non-standard lease term after they sent the lease agreement.
Advice to the owners
Better due diligence and care for your tenants living in unsafe, uninhabitable units.
