Management Company Does Not Care
Pros
Close to the train, able to find street parking,
Cons
Management does not care if there are bugs and rodents in the apartment, if the doorbell works, if toilets work, if leaks and mold are treated, or if one of their tenants is a safety risk to every one else in the building. There are children living here, men smoking pot in the hallway, and grown men cursing at everyone and threatening them. Packages get stolen here frequently, by both tenants and those who sneak into the building vestibule. Management does not care to address any of the issues in this apartment and will literally begin to ignore you if you complain too much.
Advice to the owners
Respond to your tenants needs and keep the living standards at least at the minimum required by nyc
Poor building & tenant safety management
Pros
- convenient location to trains and busses
Cons
- package theft - refusal to install security system - front door lock sticks - mice and mouse holes that the company refuses to patch after multiple requests - holes in ceiling that company ignores - unsafe tenants & lack of effort or intention to protect tenants - manipulation / misleading tactics to express faux kindness so tenants don’t demand what they’re rightfully owed (no mice, safe living situation, etc.) in order to get tenants to stay in their leases and/or pay more money to the property - once the financial threat is alleviated their time quickly changes and they become very clear that they can’t and won’t help you - poor communication - significant delays in paperwork and processes, while not outright refusing in order to avoid civil suits — but will not provide most things in writing and refuse to provide tenants with an eta for any fixes, deliverables, or deposit refunds
Advice to the owners
You are actually in the business of humans. You provide housing and you should ensure safety. From pests and disease, from abusive tenants, from stalked and sexual hardsssment. Especially when it is brought to you by multiple parties of different ages, genders, and races. You should establish a clear line of communication and respond proactively so as not to cause further undue stress. It is not good for your tenants to lose 7 pounds in a week due to the stress of living in your building, nor is it good to have dead mouse littered throughout the building and walls in the middle of summer
