I Hope You Brought a Sweater (And A/C)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large sized units Rent Stabilized Quiet (relative to the area)
Cons:
Gets very hot in summer (no central air) and the way the unit is laid out one A/C in the living room does not get the job done Cold in the winter (currently 4 degrees under the legal minimum) Drafty windows, even after winterizing them No ceiling light in the living room Incompetent Super Unresponsive Management Next to a building with poor garbage management, so a colony of rats has emerged No Washer/Dryer in building
Advice to owner:
Properly heat your units, and get a coherent and responsive super.

Severely infested with roaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location, great super, huge apartments
Cons:
ROACHES EVERYWHERE: hallways, elevator and inside your apartment, no matter how many measures you take. The walls are also super thin: you can hear your neighbor sneeze.
Advice to owner:
Invest more in getting rid of the roaches (e.g., cleaning garbage disposals, fixing leaks) and do better quality renovations (the kitchen in my apartment was new-ish/updated, but they didn't fix the basic things like holes under the sink and behind cabinets).

Awful new management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Massive apartments. Hardwood floors. Oversized bedrooms. High ceilings.
Cons:
New owners are treating this building like a total slum. Elevator is constantly out leaving older tenants trapped in their apartments. Rodent problems. Garbage piles up for days. Angry and hostile superintendent.
