Beautiful pre-war building but thin walls and a watchful landlord
Pros
The apartments are beautiful: classic pre-war layouts with lots of windows and great character. Many units are very fairly priced for the area - you're a few blocks from the bottom of Prospect Park. Tenant turnover is low with many people living here for years. The landlord replies quickly and many tenants are fond of him.
Cons
The walls are very thin. I could hear my neighbors sneeze, cough, talk, and walk. Depending on your unit, you may hear more: many units face an interior courtyard where the trash cans are kept and it can get very loud. The building also sits under the LGA flight path with planes passing low roughly every 90 seconds at times (this took a while to get used to). On the management side, my concerns weren’t always taken seriously. The landlord also keeps an office on the ground floor during the day with the door open to the lobby which can feel a bit watchful.
