High rent for little in return
Pros
-Located in the safe neighborhood of Midwood(you can walk here at night without fear of crime) -Very family friendly neighborhood -Close to Q Train (Avenue J station) -Pretty conservative neighborhood so most people here will be resistant to gentrification, thus meaning slightly cheap rent -Ever since parking became once/week/per side, parking is pretty decent to find
Cons
-Not too many food options. Not surprising as this is a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. The most you have is a deli nearby the train station, Di Fara’s pizza, and a couple of drug stores. You’ll end up going to Flatbush Junction or Coney Island Avenue for food -Parking isn’t too bad but you’ll end up parking on the side streets between Avenue J and Bedford Avenue or the side streets behind the building before you’ll find a spot on Ocean Avenue. Hope you don’t mind walking home. Night time parking will involve parking farther then need be. Sometimes I had to park nearby Nostrand Ave. -Management doesn’t care about anything. I’ve been requesting a laundry card for the laundry room since I moved in several months ago. It is almost October and still haven’t received it. They keep saying they sent out a request and I’ll receive it and it’s the same thing every time I call. At this point, just use a laundromat. -The amount you pay isn’t worth the quality of life in the building. They want $1900 for shoebox apartments but this is NYC so we have no choice but to deal with it. I keep my place clean, yet I still have roaches, spiders, and other pests. There’s no elevator so try not to get an apartment above the 2nd floor(B floor). The security door doesn’t work 60% of the time, hence why most couriers hate this building. I spoke to multiple UPS, USPS, and FedEx drivers and they all told me how much they hate delivering here due to the bell never working. The management never gives them a key or special code to get in so they just end up either waiting for someone to open the door or put a slip and leave. I don’t blame them. I would do the same. There’s are no cameras so packages get stolen occasionally. My neighbors put multiple signs with hopes to deter them but it doesn’t work.
Advice to the owners
-Please add cameras in the lobby. We are tired of having our packages stolen -Get more organized. It shouldn’t take several months just to get a laundry card -Fix the security door with something that works -Give couriers the necessary keys to enter in the building -Get an exterminator -Stop charging high rent when buildings in the neighborhood offer more for less
