Cute place to live, some issues
Pros
I absolutely love the neighborhood. You have easy access to Prospect Park, and Park Slope is filled with charming tree-lined streets with historic brownstones. The apartment is right across the street from my gym and a 2 minute walk to the subway station. There are also plenty of places to get a bite to eat and it’s an easy trip to Manhattan. I liked how the apartment came with a dishwasher and enough counter space in the kitchen. Also it has good natural light.
Cons
If you move here, be prepared to see baby roaches in the kitchen and bathroom once every 2-3 days or so. An exterminator comes every 2 weeks but this didn’t seem to make much of a difference. However, the roaches were never bigger than a quarter. Also when I first moved here I had issues adjusting to the noise levels in my bedroom. My bedroom was at the front of the apartment so I had to find ways to sound proof my bedroom door (which is thin and opens up into the kitchen/living room where my roommate makes breakfast early in the morning) and sound proof my window which looks out onto a busy street. However, I haven’t had noise issues since I made these changes.
Horrible landlords
Pros
Nice location, close to public transport and activities. Decent sized rooms.
Cons
Owners are horrible, unresponsive and liars who underpay all the workers who help maintain the building. There is a bug problem due to lack of maintenance and sanitation. Owners will blatantly lie to hide their inaction. Building was out of code and had a fire. We discovered there were no fire alarms, and no extinguishers in the building. Maggots are commonly seen in the trash area. Generally sleepy people with little if any morals. Heat was said to be included, but that was a lie as well. There was not heat for 2 months during heat season. It is an unsafe building with locks that don’t always lock and it is it secure.
Advice to the owners
Grow a conscious, your god sees you. Stop lying, honor the contract you provided and invest in the property,
