Review Summary for 595 Dean Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 595 Dean Street highlight the building's modern design, excellent amenities, and professional, friendly staff as major benefits. The location is praised for proximity to parks, restaurants, and subway lines. However, multiple tenants report persistent issues with secondhand smoke drifting between units and inconsistent management responsiveness. Noise levels vary, with some units experiencing loud street and neighborhood sounds, especially near Atlantic Ave and the dog park. Package handling and trash disposal practices also need improvement. While some appreciate the clean, pest-free environment and helpful maintenance, others note challenges with water pressure, noise, and building policies. Overall, experiences differ by tower and floor.

2nd hand fume permeating into unit, along with bad mgnt response
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good noise barrier wall
Gas included
Good support staff however bad management
Cons:
Tenants who ignore a very comprehensive non-smoking clause in lease.
On-going 2nd hand smoke permeating into unit from tenants that include cigarettes, pot and other unknown chemical smelling items.
Building Manager at 1st seems responsive and positive on 2nd hand fumes, but then it turns into excuses like saying it difficult to take any legal action on suspecting tenant or saying no one else had the issue I was experiencing to it.
Tenants may not be reporting issues with 2nd hand smoke/fume.
Considering the bldg is only a couple yrs old, elevators are already breaking down, trash chute issue. The chute issues could be due to tenants.
Trash/refuse room smell bad, This is cause by tenants who does not properly tie up bags, not putting trash into trash chute if it can fit.
Many times, tenants just throw the boxes/recycleable without breaking them down which piles up very quickly esp very large boxes. Not sorting trash and recycleables, liquid leakage.
Weird design choice for the type and design on windows, which make it impossible to use a window screen to prevent insects from entering.
Advice to owner:
Make more effort to address 100% non smoking rule in the building.
