Pretty good building
Pros
Good location - a little over a block from the 40th Street subway station, immediately next to a laundromat, nice back courtyard, close to grocery stores, coffee shops, farmers' market, etc. Super is responsive and pretty skilled at fixing things and stays on top of trash and cleaning.
Cons
The laundry room is expensive, small, and not well-maintained. It's an old building with old wiring, so you have to be careful when running more than one energy-sucking appliance at a time, especially during the summer, if you don't want to short-circuit yourself. I have seen the occasional tiny mouse in the basement, though *knock on wood* not in my apartment. There is also the occasional roach in the apartment. The paint job that was done before moving in was a pretty sloppy one, and the peel and stick flooring in the kitchen was not well cut.
Overall satisfied living here
Pros
Good location, lots of space, kept clean and organized. Laundry in building. Elevators, old but functional.
Cons
Communication with management can be awful. You have to chase them down for some things. Need to make sure you get things in writing when moving in. Don’t let them compel you to move in if the apartment is less than ready.
