Great Building Staff but the Worst Management

The building management sucks. I am going to avoid buildings which are managed by Brodsky like a plague. - They will pester you with emails when they need some info about something but if you reach out to them with questions, sometimes you would response in a few days and the other times, you will not hear back from them. - Management only cares about your money with 0 disregard for anything else. We have lived in the building for 7 years. Due to a change in our financial circumstances, when we got our lease renewal, we requested an extension for 3 months (at the new 8% increased rent price) so that we could decide whether we wanted to extend it for another year or not. The management agreed to give us a 3% extension but also told us that if we wanted to extend for another year after those 3 months, they will increase the rent again. WOW! - Until 2024, when the building used to be rent stabilized, the management had 0 incentive to do building repairs or upgrade ANYTHING. The washing machines are broken. For the last 7 years I have lived here, most of the times, only 1 or 2 out of the 3 elevators work and the lines can get long. Washer/Dryers are out of service very frequently and stay like that for weeks. The gym equipment keeps breaking down over and over again. - But, in 2024 the building went out of rent stabilization. Since then, within 2 years, our rent has increased by 50%. They are quite open to the current residents that they would prefer that they leave. Hence, most of my friends from the building have left and I am leaving now too. Crazy part is that when the building goes out of rent stabilization, they upgrade amenities and improve the building BEFORE hiking up the rents to the market rate. Brodsky management has hiked up the prices to such an extent that, for what they offer, they are way highly priced than the market rate and they still refuse to fix/upgrade amenities. - The don't clean your windows from outside. Our windows have been cleaned 0 times in the last 7 years since we have moved here. Whenever we have requested, they tell us that they dont provide you that service even if you wanna pay for it. When you are trying to move in, they will try to charm you by showing the amazing midtown views from the windows but don't be fooled. Within 6 months, the windows are going to get covered with bird poop and dust and you would barely wanna look outside from those windows. - Every maintenance fix inside the apartment is going to need a 10-15 minutes discussion with the handyman to convince and prove to him that you aren't lying to him and the issue is real. ACs break down every few months, hot water disruption happens every now and then. Good luck explaining and convincing the handyman about the situation without losing your mind.
Advice to the owners
Brodsky is the WORST building management company EVER. And when I say this, I say this on behalf of dozens of residents in the building. We have WhatsApp groups discussing how bad you guys are. After rent destabilization since 2024, you guys increased the rents by like 50% and have made 0 fixes/upgrades to the building. You guys are unresponsive on emails even when multiple of you are on the thread. None of this has gone unnoticed. Between December and February, you guys are going to see more than a dozen of reviews from all of us who are vacating the building currently.
