Not necessarily. Buildings can be close but still require different walking paths. Before applying, check the route from the building to your usual 5 train station and confirm the walking time you can realistically make.

What should I confirm before signing a lease in a pre-war building?

Ask about the building’s current maintenance and update history (especially heating, hot water, and plumbing), any known issues in the unit you want, and what repairs are handled by the building versus the tenant.

Do the building signals on Openigloo replace calling the building?

No. Openigloo helps you narrow and compare, but you should still contact the management or leasing office to confirm current lease terms, availability, fees, and move-in logistics.

Are there extra costs I should plan for beyond the advertised rent?

Yes. Even when you shortlist based on rent, you should budget for the full monthly and move-in cost like broker fees (if applicable), security deposits, and utilities that may not be included.
