What does “best-heat” mean on Openigloo?

It’s a filter built from building-level heat performance signals in the data Openigloo uses, then surfaced alongside building ratings from rated buildings so renters can narrow down before contacting management.

How does “b49-bus” affect the results?

The buildings are filtered to those near the B49 bus route in Flatbush, so your commute distance stays part of the selection criteria.

Are these buildings guaranteed to have good heat in every unit?

No. Even when a building rates well overall, heat can vary by unit layout, floor, and exposure. Confirm the details for the specific apartment you’re considering.

What should I ask the landlord or super about heat?

Ask how heat is managed in your unit, whether there have been recent issues in the winter, how repairs are handled, and what tenants typically experience during cold snaps.

Does a high rating mean there are no maintenance or responsiveness problems?

Not necessarily. Ratings reflect aggregated renter signals, but you should still ask about maintenance response times, documented repairs, and how issues are logged and resolved.

Where does Openigloo’s heat info come from?

Openigloo combines building-level signals from the data it tracks with renter-provided context (like what people report about conditions). Treat it as a triage tool, then verify directly with the building for your unit.

Which neighborhoods are trending right now in this scope?

Bushwick with 12,589+ buildings; Stuyvesant Heights with 7,834+ buildings; Park Slope with 7,025+ buildings; Downtown Brooklyn with 3,920+ buildings; Clinton Hill with 4,040+ buildings.

What to check before choosing a building highly rated for heat near the B49 bus in Flatbush

Search by location + heat signal: these buildings match both “near the B49 bus” and “best-heat” for Flatbush.
Use reviews as a starting point, not a substitute for a tour: ask how heat is controlled in the unit and what tenants report during cold months.
Confirm the full cost before you commit: deposits, broker fees, and monthly utilities can change what “good heat” means for your budget.
If you rely on “near the B49 bus,” check the exact walking route and how far you are from your typical stop times.
Compare building consistency: heat complaints can vary by exposure, floor, and unit layout, so verify for your specific apartment.
