What does “low-open-violations” mean on Openigloo?

It prioritizes buildings with fewer open violations based on NYC open records. Still, records may not reflect conditions day-to-day, so confirm details directly with the building.

How does the SIM2-bus filter affect where these buildings are?

It scopes results to the Sunset Park area around the SIM2 bus. Check walking distance and timing for your routine, since small location differences can change commute time.

Do low open-violation rates guarantee there won’t be problems in the future?

No. This filter is based on open-record signals. You should still ask how maintenance and inspections are handled now and what tenant communication looks like.

Where do the violation signals come from, and are they up to date?

They come from NYC open records. Because data can lag real-world changes, treat it as a starting point and verify with the super/management during your tour or application.

What should I ask the building before applying or signing?

Ask about current maintenance response times, how complaints are tracked, and whether there are any active issues related to the violations shown in the building’s history.

How should I use ratings on this page?

Ratings here reflect the 14 rated buildings in Sunset Park tied to available Openigloo review data. Use them alongside the open-violations signals and your own unit-level checks.

Which neighborhoods are trending right now?

Bushwick with 12,589+ buildings; Downtown Brooklyn with 3,920+ buildings; Stuyvesant Heights with 7,834+ buildings; Flatbush with 5,564+ buildings; Park Slope with 7,025+ buildings.
