What does the “best-cleanliness + M5 bus” filter mean on this page?

It narrows to Washington Heights buildings that match the best-cleanliness signal and are near the M5 bus route, so you can focus on both upkeep expectations and commute convenience.

How is the cleanliness signal used here—does it reflect recent conditions?

Cleanliness is based on building-level signals from renter-reported input shown on Openigloo. Still, conditions can change, so confirm details directly with the building or super before committing.

Are there 58+ Washington Heights buildings that match these filters right now?

Yes—this page is scoped to 58+ eligible buildings as of the snapshot date. Availability and renter activity can change, so check the current building pages for the latest options.

What should I verify about cleanliness before moving in?

Ask about current practices for trash/recycling areas, lobby and hallway maintenance, package-room handling, and whether any recent issues were addressed (with dates if possible). Tenant Q&A can help you frame the questions.

Does “high cleanliness” guarantee there will be no problems in my unit?

No. The filter reflects building-level patterns, but unit-by-unit conditions can differ. Always inspect the specific apartment, test ventilation and plumbing, and request any needed repairs in writing.

How close should I be to the M5 bus stop for it to be worth it?

Treat it as a proximity check, then validate your real commute: where the entrance is, how long it takes to get from the building to the stop, and whether you’ll transfer elsewhere.

What to check before choosing a building highly rated for cleanliness near the M5 bus in Washington Heights

Filter by best-cleanliness first, then confirm the building’s location relative to the M5 bus stop you use most (walk time and entry location matter).
On each building page, check what “cleanliness” commenters actually mention (lobbies, hallways, trash areas, pest reports, common-area upkeep) and whether recent feedback aligns with older comments.
Look for building rules that affect cleanliness day to day: garbage/recycling procedures, package-room policies, smoking rules, and any posted maintenance cadence for common areas.
Before signing, ask the landlord/super directly about current conditions in the parts renters complain about most, not just the overall cleanliness score.
Confirm costs beyond the monthly rent (security deposit, any move-in fees, and utilities responsibilities), since total monthly budget affects how long you can stay and how quickly issues get addressed.
