Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenants of Matthew Kaplan's buildings frequently praise the well-maintained, clean, and secure pre-war buildings, highlighting friendly doormen and responsive management. The convenient locations near subway, parks, and amenities add to the appeal. However, occasional pest issues, particularly with cockroaches and water bugs, are noted. Some residents report aging infrastructure problems, such as elevator outages and thin walls affecting noise levels. While the super's responsiveness can vary, overall management is viewed positively with timely communication. Rent increases and maintenance in some areas could improve, but the community atmosphere and building upkeep generally satisfy residents.

Great staff. Amazing location!! Neighbors have been awesome as well

Pros

Location next to subway, parks, river, restaurants, banks, grocery store. Super responds fast when needed Doormen are polite and friendly Laundry rooom is maintained well Garbage mgmt on each floor Compost bins in basement A lot of ppl have lived in this bldg for a really long time so that speaks for itself. Once you live here, it will be hard to leave

Cons

Issues with water bugs - bldg would be near perfect if this was under more control. Not all units have this problem. Two elevators - sometimes 1x is down but the wait it never too long. Overall I would still recommend living here despite the small cons. It’s a beautiful hidden gem
