Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback for buildings managed by Betty Hoch indicates a mix of positive and challenging experiences. Tenants appreciate the buildings' convenient locations, spacious apartments, and some responsive management efforts. Rent stabilization is a valued feature in certain buildings. However, common concerns include maintenance delays, persistent pest issues such as roaches and occasional bedbugs, and cleanliness problems—especially in hallways and common areas. Smoking in hallways remains a frequent nuisance despite requests for enforcement. Noise levels vary, with some tenants reporting disruptive neighbors. Overall, while some residents approve of the owner's responsiveness and recommend the buildings, others cite the need for improved upkeep and stronger enforcement of policies to enhance living conditions.

Reviews

Former tenant·10 hours ago

Decent building affordable

Pros

Rent Stablized, nice location, fast response, nice neighbors.

Cons

Old, super is here to "fix" things temporarily. Weird man on 1st floor likes to adjust his pants and smoke by the back elevator. Update after the pandemic a group of tenants smokes by the stairs and lobby nonstop smoke gets in easily and makes it hard to breathe. Water tends to turn brown for the first 30 seconds it get frustrating. Lots more roaches now from lack of cleaning from both tenants and building

Advice to the owners

Please enforce the no smoking rules and address the roach issue it has gotten a lot worse
