Owner broke lease after fly infestation
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to public transit, entertainment and neighborhood vibe.
Cons:
My unit had a pest infestation when Covid first broke out. Roommates and I were spending all of our time at home while flies took over the kitchen and bathrooms. This went on for months. The property was managed by a co-living company called Bungalow. We were able to get a discount on rent for the trouble. We were told with less than 30 days notice that they were ending our lease shortly after the infestation was finally resolved.

Cheap Landlord
Former Tenant
Pros:
Tenants keep to themselves and are quiet.
It’s a new building so it’s relatively clean, if you keep it clean. No rodents or insects. Close to M and J trains. Close to supermarkets even though they’re not the best.
Cons:
Laundry machine barely works and can only wash literally a few T-shirts and a pair of jeans per washing. Landlord/management ignores all complains, at best they send someone to check but things do not get repaired. Main entrance door lock is broken and we have had break ins. Locksmith was never sent to secure and fix the lock. Heating/AC units are not suitable for this climate and landlord will not replace them. Neighbors dump all their garbage in front of our building as they know the landlord doesn’t care.
Advice to owner:
New washing machine. New and secure front door lock. Keep neighbors out of the property.
