Good place for start in nyc
Pros
I moved to Morningside Heights for a short-term stay while figuring out where I wanted to live long term in NYC, and this place ended up being a really good starting point. The first thing I noticed was how easy everything felt from day one. I didn’t have to deal with setting up utilities or internet, which saved me a lot of time and stress, especially right after moving. Day to day life was really convenient. I’d usually grab coffee nearby in the morning, walk through the area, and sometimes go down to Riverside Park. Having the subway close made it easy to get anywhere in the city without overthinking it. The apartment itself was comfortable and had everything I needed, nothing extra, but exactly what works for daily life. I also met a few interesting people while living there, which made the experience more social than I expected. It ended up being one of those places that just made settling into New York a lot easier.
Cons
Limited space, typical for NYC apartments
Solid Choice for the Area
Pros
Great location near trains and parks. The block feels safe and active but not overwhelming. The building has that classic prewar character which gives it personality. Neighbors were mostly quiet. Easy access to groceries and cafes.
Cons
It’s an older building, so you notice small things like heating noise in winter and typical wear in common areas. Nothing dramatic, but it’s not modern or recently renovated.
