Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Tenant reviews for buildings managed by COREY JASSEM reveal significant management challenges, particularly with maintenance responsiveness and pest control. Many renters report unresolved issues with heating, persistent rodent infestations, and overall poor upkeep. Garbage management and cleanliness are often rated low, contributing to a less comfortable living environment. Though neighbors tend to be friendly and some appreciate the convenient location, noise levels can be disruptive. While a few tenants acknowledge prompt fixes on some occasions, the majority highlight slow or inadequate responses to serious safety and comfort concerns. Prospective renters should expect ongoing maintenance and cleanliness issues under this management.

Coexisting with Mice, no heat in winter, ceiling caving in

Pros

Neighbors are kind and, for the most part, respectful of common areas and noise. Haven't had any issues with other tenants and have formed some friendships with neighbors.

Cons

Maintenance is horrible. They will close active requests, and individual maintenance crew members will harass you and threaten to fine you for stuff completely unrelated to the decrepit state in which the apartment is kept. We had mice for over 6 months and had to pay out of pocket for a competent pest control service that would actually address the issue, instead of just laying glue traps throughout the entire unit. We also did not have functioning heat during the coldest winter months. Data was collected, reflecting the code-violating temperatures and completely cold to the touch, and ill-functioning radiators. We were simply told that this was our issue due to not insulating the windows. We purchased a window insulation kit out of pocket and installed it ourselves since management began closing our requests to reset the radiators without ever checking if the issue was resolved. Last but certainly not least, the entire ceiling right outside the door to our unit completely caved in. We alerted management when a bubble appeared in the paint of the ceiling, caused by snow piling up on the roof. Management proceeded to leave multiple filthy buckets to catch dripping water and would not come to remove this water, so the buckets began to overflow and trickle down the stairs. We are on the top floor for reference. The ceiling proceeded to continue caving in until a huge chunk of plaster and ceiling debris fell out onto the floor, directly outside the entrance to our unit, and sat there for days while we tried to contact management. The management company told us it was unsafe to perform any "maintenance" to resolve this issue while there was a leaking hole directly above our apt entrance, filthy overflowing buckets, and trash debris, which also happens to be directly next to the stairs, a total safety hazard for all tenants on the top floor. The hole directly to the outside also contributed to the lack of heat issue mentioned above. Do not live in this building if you value your physical or mental well-being!
