Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant feedback on buildings managed by Guy Shor indicates a mixed experience. While the management team exhibits responsiveness, addressing maintenance issues promptly, several tenants have raised persistent concerns regarding garbage management and pest control, particularly with cockroach and rat infestations. Noise levels vary, with some residents enjoying quiet environments while others report disturbances. The cleanliness of buildings appears generally acceptable, but infrastructure issues like heating inefficiencies and safety concerns in some areas detract from overall satisfaction. Despite these drawbacks, some tenants appreciate the convenient locations and spacious apartments, though many advise caution when considering living here.

Former tenant here (2019-2023)

Pros

-Very responsive superintendent. -Cozy during the winter -good natural lighting via skylight -responsive management

Cons

-Illegal fire escape not being fixed to any window -initially really bad Pest problem (cockroaches), apartment had to be fumigated after signing the lease to move in. Pest problem persisted but did improve since the beginning. -Garbage was poorly managed. No one filled the lining allowing loose trash leaving tenants to be responsible. -Gas meter in basement was outdated upon moving in and was locked up in building's basement, national grid had to replace it and charged us a whopping $1500 of gas bills we owed since it was made light to us we were underpaying. Still paying it off to this day, thanks to the building's management. 🤦‍♂️ -we couldn't renew our lease because the landlord wanted to make "renovations" even though they were showing the apartment off.

Beware of electric bill

Pros

small building, amazing location

Cons

all electric heating that is extraordinarily inefficient. my bills in the winter were outrageous. $800 a month for a normal sized one bedroom apartment. i had to break the lease so i wouldnt go broke. management wouldnt help neither would con ed. gaslight you into thinking thats normal. so sad because i loved living here.

Advice to the owners

Replace the heat with central or subsidize the bill to get people to stay. I was so sad i had to move.
