Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for properties managed by Jacob Rubin illustrate a concerning pattern of management issues. Many tenants report severe cleanliness and maintenance problems, including pest infestations, mold, and poor responsiveness to repair requests. While some properties are praised for their location and a few mention responsive superintendents, the overwhelming sentiment points to a lack of adequate management care and consideration. Incidents of threatening behavior from management and dishonest practices regarding security deposits are alarming. Though a small number of tenants recommend their buildings, the majority advise potential renters to seek properties elsewhere due to these persistent issues.

Horrible management and landlord

Pros

It’s near to nice shops

Cons

After 6 months you start to see the problems; Lead in the walls, leaking, mold, mice and heater leaking. The super and owner threatened me and my family many times to call ice. They called the police on us many times to make us scared ( but nothing happened). I have a kid with autism that after so many harassment she stopped to speak. We had to go to court after so many things they did with our family including threats, touching our garbage, destroying our bike that was locked crossing the street (we got the deli cameras and saw the super vandalizing the bike) they dropped garbage in our door and did everything imaginable to force us to leave just to put up the rent. If you google the name of the owner you can see the cases him and his family have in court, including fraud. Also the history of rent, he doubled price illegally. Also the other buildings he own have similar problems. I would avoid this at all costs

Advice to the owners

It’s time to do the proper repairs

Great Building, Lovely Super.

Pros

This building is overall cleanly, well kept, and responsive to complaints. The super lives in the building and is very responsive and helpful.

Cons

Renovations to the unit seem to have been done hastily and some things are missing like a hood for the stove, which causes the smoke detector to go off frequently.

Advice to the owners

Be consistent in asking for what you need and try to go through the super rather than the leasing agents when you can.
