Roaches, Mice, Bees, Slumlord Owner
Pros
-For the neighborhood and the space we got, the rent was pretty good.
Cons
-Apartment had german roach problems -Apartment had mice problems after tenants across the hall moved out -There were bees in the bathroom ceiling -The basement is so infested with rats that the utility man would not go down there to turn our gas on. Definitely do not order food from the bodega on the first floor. -No cleaning whatsoever, at one point a squashed mouse was on the stairs for a week. -Owner kept our security deposit for 3 months and had to be hassled to return it (he kept $800 for a made up reason but we were too tired to fight it)

Pros
Everyone in the tenant association is great. Good location across from trader joes.
Cons
Landlord is committing fraud, including over-charging rent as market rate when all apartments are actually rent stabilized, also initiates illegal eviction proceedings against any tenant utilizing lawful means for self advocacy. Landlord uses slurs and insults as means of intimidation, as well as illegally demanding access unannounced. Landlord also withholds heat as retaliation.
