Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent tenant reviews for buildings managed by Hugo Donner reveal consistent issues with management responsiveness and pest control, despite some perks like spacious apartments and well-kept common areas. Tenants frequently report slow or inadequate handling of pest infestations, maintenance problems, and security concerns, including package theft and antisocial neighbors. While some supers receive praise for their efforts, overall communication from management is deemed lacking and customer service sometimes considered rude. Noise and neighbor disturbances are also common complaints, alongside concerns about safety and building upkeep. Prospective renters should be aware of these challenges and may find value in the community and architecture but face management shortcomings.

Former tenant·2 hours ago

This place is trashy and unsafe, do not recommend living here

Pros

I have some really sweet neighbors and the community garden behind the building is great. Love the neighborhood for the most part.

Cons

There are roaches no matter what you do. Packages are stolen constantly. My downstairs neighbors are mentally unstable, leave us nasty notes, and bang on the ceiling when we so much as vacuum. Someone let a person with a criminal record rent a room in her apartment and they had a domestic dispute and sprayed bear spray in the hallway, making us all have to evacuate and the fire department come. She still lives here, nothing was done. My neighbor was sexually assaulted by someone who lives here and nothing was done. My other neighbor has FOOTAGE of someone who lives here stealing his package and management didn't do anything. There are always people who don't live here using the laundry room. My hamper got stolen from the laundry room.

Advice to the owners

Have a more secure laundry room. Pay for people's bathroom sinks when they get broken because you put a cheap one in in the first place. You have the footage of packages get stolen and, despite what you’ve told residents, you DON’T need a police report to review the footage you own. Take care of your residents and they’ll feel more safe.
